The morning after the night before was the recovery day. It involved navigating local shops to find survival materials, and also cleaning stuff as I scrubbed the sand out of one of my two sets of clothing I had brought with me.

The day after, the sun had handily dried my clothes and I was alive with fresh enthusiasm. For this was the day of my first tourist activity, a catamaran from the windmill village of Oia touring the islands of Santorini. Here is the first selection. It is very clear that my photo taking was not as highly evolved as it is today. Soz.

Among the other guests were a group of girls from Los Angeles, along with their Irish mother figure, another group of Californians, a lovely just-married couple from Mexico, out hot tour guide, and me. I became enamoured early on with the complimentary drinks, including the mini beer cans, as pictured. The scenery was lovely and an initial cloudy day gave way to sunshine. More than I had anticipated in my typical English tourist unprepared way. We took a tour of the islands, including past the hot springs area of the volcano in the centre. I did not have any swimming gear with me so I looked on at the bravery of others.

It was a wonderful day! Very peaceful and relaxing. Felt very odd to be travelling alone though around groups and couples, but not awkward enough to not enjoy things. I got splashed a bit and definitely caught the sun, as a following pic evidences.

I spent the evening at a lovely restaurant on the Kamari beach front. I had a lovely Spaghetti Carbonara, which included mushrooms. Now mushrooms have often plagued me with their ability to ruin food en masse, but in the spirit of trying new things (and not making a fuss because I’m polite dammit) I had them and survived. Maybe I’m mature now. Sophisticated even.
